HYBRIDA FEST 2025

26-29th of June

Älvsbacka, Sweden

About

Over three days at the peak of Swedish summer we are hosting a program of live performances, DJ & live sets, and site-specific workshops, alongside the Hybrida residency art exhibition. Outside the creative program, we'll have home-cooked food, "fika", sauna & swimming, forest walks and dancing into the long summer nights.

Come to replenish your creative reservoir with other open and curious people in the setting of a bygone iron works surrounded by nature.

Hybrida Fest started as a small celebration for the end of our visual artist residency, Hybrida AIR in 2021. It has grown little by little every year as an intimate gathering centered around new artistic experiences.

Location

The festival takes place in a little village called Älvsbacka located in an idyllic valley in a region called Värmland. The village is surrounded by forests, a stream, and two lakes. It is located 45 minutes from Karlstad and 15 minutes by car from the nearest supermarket and petrol station.

Travel

It takes 3-4 hours to travel by car, train or bus to the festival from Stockholm, Oslo, or Gothenburg, which are the nearest big cities (with airports). To minimise our impact on the environment we encourage you to travel by train or bus where possible.

From Gothenburg, Oslo or Stockholm you can take a train or bus to Karlstad (see links below).

Bus 300 runs from Karlstad to Östanås almost hourly on weekdays. Departures from Karlstad bus station on weekdays (update with time schedule later on).

It's a five-minute walk from Karlstad train station to the bus station, and the bus takes one hour.

Please note that there are no buses on weekends or evenings, so if you expect to arrive in Karlstad after 19:30, or on the weekend, you can take other buses to Molkom (the nearest town) and ask for rides in the our car share group.

We have a car-sharing telegram group for people to share their rides.

Camping & food

The campsite is located on a field next to the lake, five minutes walk from the festival buildings where the exhibition, performances, bar and kitchen are located.

Tents and campervans are welcome. We will have one designated area for more quiet guests, and one for those who want to stay up longer.

Guests are welcome to arrive before the start of the festival, but there will be no services provided by the festival before the 26th, except for volunteers.

WC & Shower

You will find toilets both at the camping area and at the festival site. Simple shower solution will be available at the campsite, but we also recommend a refreshing swim in the lake.

Food information

The full festival ticket includes breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Our communal vegetarian meals are cooked on-site by our wonderful kitchen team, and served in the canteen where we eat together.

Hybrida is a small festival created by community and trust. There will be self-service tea & coffee available throughout the day, which you can pay for with Swish or PayPal.

Please note that there won't be a fridge, oven or any other kitchen utilities available for guests.

We will have water stations and encourage you to bring a reusable water bottle to keep yourself hydrated.

Bar & Scene

We will have a bar with a small but good selection of snacks and drinks. You can pay at the bar with Swish, Paypal or tokens. You can buy tokens at the entrance.

Accessibility

We are doing our best to welcome and accommodate everyone during the festival, however, the festival site is on the wild side and run-down in places, making some facilities tricky for wheelchairs.

Stages & program

The exhibition space and performance spaces are located inside and outside of old semi-industrial buildings of a former iron works. The program will be published closer to the festival and will include music, an art exhibition with guided viewings, workshop and other activities.

Nature & general behaviour

Hybrida is a communal festival where we each contribute to a safe, respectful and inclusive space. Respect each other, the village, and the neighbours. If you see or experience anything uncomfortable please let a member of our festival crew know.

Leave no trace! Take care of our surroundings and leave them as you found them, if not better. Don't throw things on the ground or in the water. Hybrida is in an area of immense natural beauty and we all play a role in keeping it clean. We will have a recycling station and you'll find bins and ashtrays around the festival site. Please use them.

We want to make the least impact on the environment, so when packing your bags consider how to minimise waste. Avoid bringing materials that are fragile or toxic to the environment, such as glass or baby wipes.

Fire information

Depending on the weather condition, campfires might not be allowed. We plan to have allocated fire pits for fireside hangouts in the evenings, unless it is an especially dry season and fires are prohibited. We will share any fire-related updates in the Hybrida telegram group.

Volunteers

We will need support before, during, and after the festival. If you are interested in joining the Hybrida team and getting hands-on, please fill in the volunteer form.

If you are interested in participating in other ways, such as a workshop or art work, or have any other ideas, we'd love to hear from you. Just email us your proposal!
